This evening sad news has come to light regarding two former DIII women's hockey players. According to reports two players from New England College have passed away after a tragic event.

Reports have confirmed that former New England College student-athletes Sidney Capolino and Meghan Moore have passed away in recent days. The reports indicate that the young women had their lives taken by a stalker of Moore's who found them in Miami.
We regret to inform you of the passings of Sidney Capolino (23) and Meghan Moore (25), former players of New England College (NCAA III).

Both Sidney Capolino and Meghan Moore spent four years at New England College playing the sport they loved. For anyone who has experienced DIII sports, everyone involved is there for the love of the game and these two girls were no exception.

Hockey community continues to mourn influential athletes lost this week

The passing of these young women comes on the heels of two other horrific tragedies that have impacted the hockey community. This includes the passing of former NHL enforcer Chris Simon. Simon also passed away suddenly after a battle with mental health as a result of CTE.
Unfortunately the hockey community has had to deal with tragedy in abundance this week. The untimely passing of both Sidney Capolino and Meghan Moore feels particularly cruel as they were both just getting their adult life under way.
We at Hockey OTB send out deepest condolonces to the families and friends of all those lost in the hockey community this week.
