Martin St. Louis took a sudden leave of absence from the Montreal Canadiens, and now one insider has given an insight into exactly why.

The Montreal Canadiens have found an absolute star at Head Coach with Martin St. Louis, but unfortunately, the young Head Coach has recently been forced to take a leave of absence.
There was much speculation as to why exactly this happened, but it was David Savard that revealed in an interview why Martin St. Louis had taken leave.
Now, additional information has been revealed, with an insider noting that it was a scary collision involving his son that has led to the absence.
«What I'm going to tell you is that if you're a big boy or a big girl, and you write - Mason Scary Collision - on Twitter, you'll find out why he's not there (Martin St-Louis). [...]

There is a public part to the reason for Martin St-Louis's absence.»

The Montreal Canadiens would obviously love to have their Head Coach back as they look to finish the 2023-24 season strong, but it's very understandable why he is away from the team, with fans seemingly all respecting the decision.
Hard fought 7-3 win vs SPA. Hard to be happy as our friend and teammate Mason left the game in the 3rd after a scary collision. Good news is he's going to be okay but it takes an emotional toll. Have to do our best to re-focus and get ready for a battle tomorrow vs MSC at 8am.

According to a report from the Montreal Gazzette, Martin St. Louis is keeping in contact with the team throughout his absence, but it is unknown exactly when he will return.
