With both teams winless so far this season, Georgiev has a chance to turn things around but the pressure is on after a rocky start.

The Avalanche just picked up Kaapo Kahkonen off waivers, which feels like a pretty clear sign the team is questioning their current goalie situation . Georgiev hasn't looked great in his first two starts, allowing eight goals on just 25 shots and getting pulled both times.

His struggles, combined with those of backup Justus Annunen, who hasn't fared much better, have left Colorado with 14 goals against in two losses where the offense has supported them, potting four in both contests.

Yet, Head coach Jared Bednar remains confident that his net minder can it around and looks forward to seeing him bounce back.

Mikko Rantanen also chimed in, saying the team needs more saves if they want to be competitive.

Last Saturday's 6-4 loss to Columbus saw George pulled after three went past him midway through the game and Annunen allowed two more. Against the Vegas Golden Knights in the season opener, the 28 year-old yielded six goals in an 8-4 defeat.

With Kahkonen in the mix, it's appears the Avs might make a move if things don't improve quickly between the pipes. The tilt against Ilya Sorokin and the Isles could be a pivotal moment for Georgiev's future in Colorado.
