Dean Chynoweth linked to Winnipeg Jets coaching staff

It looks like Dean Chynoweth won't be jobless for long. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the former Toronto Maple Leafs' assistant coach is expected to join the Winnipeg Jets.
Word is he could end up as an assistant coach on Scott Arniel's staff. I think a few teams were eyeing him.
Chynoweth joined the Maple Leafs in July 2021 after leaving a similar position with the Carolina Hurricanes. He initially handled the club's defense and penalty kill but was limited to just penalty-killing duties last season when Mike Van Ryn came on board.

With Craig Berube stepping in as the new head coach, the Leafs have been overhauling their coaching staff. They brought in Lane Lambert as an associate coach and announced Chynoweth would not return.

Under Chynoweth, the Leafs ranked 23rd on the penalty kill last season. He's not the only departure; assistant coach Manny Malhotra left to become head coach of the Vancouver Canucks' AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.

On Saturday, the Leafs also parted ways with Guy Boucher after just one season. They are reportedly looking to add an offensive-minded assistant coach before the 2024-25 season starts.
