Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has told media whether Tyler Bertuzzi will play tonight against the Edmonton Oilers. It's essentially Bertuzzi's choice.

Many were confused earlier this week when benched for most of the first period of a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. However, it was later revealed that Bertuzzi is dealing with an illness and hasn't been feeling well recently. He played Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes, but was still not feeling great. Head coach Sheldon Keefe says it is entirely up to Bertuzzi whether he plays tonight against the Edmonton Oilers. However, Bertuzzi seems to have not improved much, if any.

Earlier this month, Boston Bruins forward Charlie Coyle was fined $5000 for a vicious crosscheck on Tyler Bertuzzi.. However, it doesn't appear that Coyle's crosscheck has anything to do with Bertuzzi's recent issues.
"Boston's Charlie Coyle has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Toronto's Tyler Bertuzzi."
Tyler Bertuzzi has had a bit of an up and down season so far in 2023-24. He seemed to have some difficulty getting used to head coach Sheldon Keefe's system for the first couple of months before improving. However, Bertuzzi has seen a decrease overall ice-time the past few games, even before the illness caused him to miss time. In 67 games this season, Tyler Bertuzzi has 15 goals and 19 assists for 39 points.
