REPORT: Top Acquisition Looking To Extend Longterm In Toronto

The Maple Leafs have added key free agents to bolster their upcoming season. One player from their acquisitions is particularly interested in a contract extension.

Tyler Bertuzzi, a notable addition to the Leafs in the offseason, brings toughness, grit, and skill to the team. An NHL insider has revealed that both Bertuzzi and the Leafs are looking to continue their partnership for the long haul.

"I am of the belief that Toronto wanted to sign Tyler Bertuzzi longer and I think Bertuzzi wanted to sign longer but they didn't have the ability to do it now. What does that mean after Jan 1st?"

Due to restrictions, Bertuzzi cannot pursue extensions until after January 1st. This explains why Friedman refers to this date as significant.

Tyler Bertuzzi isn't alone in his desire for a long-term commitment to the Leafs. Earlier in the summer, Max Domi also expressed interest in a lasting affiliation with the team.

If both Bertuzzi and Domi perform well in the upcoming season, discussions about contract extensions could gain traction. All eyes are now on these players as they embark on their journey with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
