After a stellar career in Tampa Bay, things appear to be coming to an end for Steven Stamkos, and now his General Manager has confirmed recent reports.

Dating back to last summer, Steven Stamkos has been involved in speculation that he's leaving the Tampa Bay Lightning, and while a trade never eventuated, that reality appears to be coming true. Recently, TSN's Chris Johnston revealed that the Detroit Red Wings were a team to watch, as speculation continued growing that No. 91 will indeed hit the open market.
Chris Johnston on Stamkos/UFA (Insider Trading): "One I would keep an eye on is the Detroit Red Wings who have freed up money with the Jake Walman trade they made this week, the belief is they are one of the ones lining up to take a run at #91 if he hits the open market"
Reports quickly linked Stamkos to the Detroit Red Wings, and now Lightning General Manager Julien Brisebois has weighed in on recent speculation.
Julien BriseBois said the Lightning have met with Stamkos' agents as recently as yesterday, but is uncertain if they will be able to reach an agreement 👀
As of right now, all signs are pointing to Steven Stamkos leaving Tampa Bay in free agency, and after another 40 goal campaign in 2023-24, he's about to get paid in a big way.
