Standing at 5'10" and weighing 184 pounds, Mangiapane ranked sixth on the team in assists, points, and plus-minus (+7), while tying for sixth in goals. He was also a key contributor in creating high danger scoring chances, leading the team in that metric.
Despite his smaller stature, he is known for his fearless play in the offensive zone. One of Mangiapane's standout qualities is his intensity. He is relentless in every zone, known for his aggressive forechecking, physicality against defenders, and shot-blocking. However, his scoring has seen a slight dip in the past two seasons.
Originally drafted by the Flames in the sixth round (166th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Mangiapane has one year left on his current contract, worth $5.8 million, before he becomes a free agent at 29.
The Capitals are hoping that Mangiapane's intensity and proven track record will bring a new spark to their lineup
