The Edmonton Oilers fell just short of the Stanley Cup in 2024, and now their superstar captain Connor McDavid has addressed the die hard fans.

The 2023/24 season was a wild ride for the Edmonton Oilers, with the team coming closer than they ever have to the Stanley Cup in the era of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Unfortunately, they fell just short of completing a 3-0 comeback against the Panthers, losing in their first chance at the Cup since 2006, but their fans stuck with them the entire way.
Now, their captain and Conn Smythe Trophy winning Connor McDavid has shown his love and appreciation for those fans in his latest post on social media.
A lot of highs and lows this season. Truly a learning experience. Thank you #OilCountry for sticking with us to the end. We have the best fans in the league. Keep believing and I can't wait to get back to work next season 🧡💙

With some big contracts coming up in the next few years, the clock is potentially ticking for this core group, but after a red-hot start to free agency, the Oilers look primed and ready to take that final step in 2025. We will see how it plays out over the next 12 months for the Oilers, but for now, McDavid is nothing but thankful for the fans that stuck behind this team over a rollercoaster of a 2023/24 campaign.
