The Edmonton Oilers hot streak was abruptly ended against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, losing 7-4. Now, two players are getting a demotion as Knoblauch sends a message to the team.
The Edmonton Oilers appeared to have found a fix to their issues over the past few weeks, riding an incredible hot streak out of the basement of the division after a terrible start to the season. However, after Thursday's loss to the Lightning, a message is being sent to the team.
Head Coach Kris Knoblauch has chosen to shake up his lines, sending a message that the team will need to be firing on all four lines if they want to be successful. In doing so, he has put Evander Kane and Connor Brown on the third line.
Evander Kane is having an incredible season with the Oilers this year, proving that his signing was a good one by Ken Holland. Kane 22 points in 27 games, a pace that would be a career year for him. This move to the third line is likely a message being sent to the whole team, that in order to compete in the Stanley Cup, you have to have every line rolling.
