We Now Know When Patrick Kane Will Sign His Next Deal
Patrick Kane's agent has revealed when he will sign his next contract.
When Kane Will Sign Revealed
Nobody expected Patrick Kane to sign a contract immediately into free agency but his agent has provided some major insight on what Kane will do.
Kane's agent, Pat Brisson, is notorious for being one of the best in the game. He said the following regarding Kane's contract.
"This is one I'm very comfortable with. I'm very calm. You could offer me a one-year deal or a two-year deal right now at $7 million or so. I don't even know if I want to entertain it, because it's not what he needs. We'll see, at the right time, how he feels, where he's at, and then we'll take it from there."
"There's going to be plenty of teams doing good, plenty of teams doing bad. "There are going to be teams using [long-term injured reserve]. We'll pick where we want to go. I don't think too many teams will turn him down."

What This Means
This means two things. First off, it means that Kane will get full control over his rehabilitation. This is something many players wish they had and was epitomized by Jack Eichel refusing to play until he got the surgery he wanted to get.
Secondly, it means that Kane will wait till he is healthy to choose a contending team that he thinks he could help win the cup with. An interesting portion of Brisson's quote is how teams using LTIR could be on Kane's radar.
Three of the past four cup champions (Tampa's back-to-back and Vegas) had star players on the LTIR who were able to return for the playoffs. This could be Kane's way of saying he wants to continue to exploit this loophole and ensure he is part of a super team who could win the cup.
