NHL Faces Backlash For Tasteless Social Media Post

Thomas Greiss announced his retirement from the NHL on Wednesday, which would've normally been a cause for celebration had he not been involved in so much controversy. The NHLPA made a post on Twitter congratulating Greiss on his retirement, and fans were quick to push back.

Thomas Greiss has come under fire numerous times throughout his career for different viewpoints that he holds. The German-born goaltender has been caught liking racist social media posts and was even accused of including neo-Nazi imagery in his mask design.

Greiss' actions got him banned for life from the German National Hockey Team, as they take any affiliation to neo-Nazism very seriously. While he is an accomplished goaltender, his personal views and actions have tainted his reputation irreparably.
