Patrik Laine has had a complicated history in the NHL. The now 26-year-old forward has six seasons with more than 50 points. However, due to inconsistency and personal struggles, the player has had to take some time away from the ice.
Despite this time off the ice in the Player's Assistance Program, Laine still had some of his mind on the league, asking for a trade away from his current NHL home with the Columbus Blue Jackets. According to senior NHL columnist Pierre LeBrun, both parties have reportedly been working on a trade deal.
Many users voted that the deal would be worse for Columbus than Montreal. However, commenters were not certain Laine would be a good fit for the Canadiens provided the player's cost and recent mental state.
With so many moving parts, it could be some time before Patrik Laine gets a deal and knows his new team. Hopefully, wherever he ends up, he can thrive and be happier than he has been in the last few seasons.
