Canadian Powerhouses in a Potential Mega-Trade Buzz!

Leafs and Flames to Make Blockbuster Trade?

Brad Treliving's history with the Flames as their former General Manager is well-known. Now as the head of Toronto's operations, he might be looking to unite with a few familiar faces from Calgary.

Insider Eklund shared:

"The Leafs are interested in Hanifin and Mangiapane. The Flames are keen on Knies, Nylander, Liljegren, and a few prospects... Those are the names I've heard. Chances are we aren't talking about all those names, but some combination of them."

Possible Trade Scenario

Let's take Matthew Knies off the table first. Toronto isn't likely to part ways with him, seeing the potential he holds. The Leafs have major aspirations for this rookie and expect him to shine bright this season. He'll probably play in Toronto for a long time.

If Toronto is serious about this trade, it's probable that names like Nylander, Liljegren, or some young prospects might come up.

Nylander seems to be the hot topic here. If he's up for grabs, numerous teams would jump at the opportunity. Will Calgary have the best offer?

Last season proved that having Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau wasn't enough to win. The Leafs could use some more offensive talent, and Nylander fits that bill perfectly.

The asking price won't be small. But there's an edge for Calgary: Toronto's on the hunt for a strong defenseman, and Noah Hanifin is primed for the role.

Consider this potential trade:

Heading to Calgary:

Nylander and Liljegren

Moving to Toronto:

Hanifin (50% salary retained)
Plus draft picks
