The Calgary Flames have signalled that they are going to be sellers this season, and they have what everyone is looking for on the blue line. Now, it appears the Boston Bruins are emerging as a frontrunner for this Flames defensive star.

Bruins Emerging As Frontrunner For Potential Hanifin Trade

The Boston Bruins are hoping to right their wrongs from last season, after dropping out of the playoffs in the first round coming off one of the most successful seasons in NHL history. To do that, they are looking to shore up their blueline before heading into the playoffs.

The Calgary Flames appear to be perfect trade partners for the Bruins, and now it has been reported that one executive thinks the Bruins are the frontrunners to land Noah Hanifin.




Hanifin has 12 points in 24 games, and an impressive plus-3 rating considering the Flames' struggles and the number of minutes he logs.

Potential Sign and Trade Would be Needed for Calgary To Make a Deal

The Flames still have a lot of work left to do on the Hanifin front. To make any deal work, it is likely that a sign and trade will be required so that Hanifin and the teams have some security in what they are trading for.

It has been reported that the Flames and Hanifin have gotten close to a deal, however, it has yet to work out, which is troubling for Flames fans and their executive if they want to get something done with a looking trade deadline.



We will eventually see where Hanifin ends up this season, and if it is with the Boston Bruins.
