There has been quite a lot of drama between the Maple Leafs and Bruins already this season. In the previous matchup, Brad Marchand Injured Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren with a slew foot and non one on the Leafs stood up for him. This time, it was a Leaf doing the damage.

Reaves Makes Dumb Hit From Behind On 19-Year-Old Bruins Rookie

In the play, Bruins rookie Matthew Poitras can be seen struggling to control the puck below his own goal line as he faced the boards. Reaves skated all the way down the Leafs offensive zone before making a hit on the 19-year-old rookie. While he did slow down immediately before making the hit, it is clear that Poitras's numbers were facing Reaves the entire time.

In typical fashion, Reaves did not agree with the call.

By the way the rule is written, it seems like a pretty straight forward boarding penalty. One might wonder what the call would have been had Reaves not slowed up significantly before the hit. Given the distance he skated to make the hit, it could have been charging as well had he not slowed down.

Leafs Pull Off Another Remarkable Comeback

The Leafs seem to be the best team in the league at scoring with the goalie pulled to tie the game late. Tonight the team pulled it off again as Auston Matthews tied the game with less than 6 seconds remaining to force overtime.

The goal was reviewed for goaltender interference by the officials since it came with less than a minute left in regulation but the goal stood.
