BREAKING: San Jose Sharks Acquire Young Defenseman From Minnesota

The Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks have completed a major trade.

Sharks Acquire A Young Defenseman From The Wild

Today the San Jose Sharks added to their defensive group via a big trade. The Sharks have acquired former second-round pick Calen Addison for a 5th-round pick.

As @KevinWeekes first reported, Calen Addison is indeed being traded to the #sjsharks. #mnwild will receive a fifth-round pick in 2026, I'm told.

Addison has shown flashes of offensive upside. This season he has 5 points in 12 games with the Wild. He will bring a much-needed offensive punch to the back end in San Jose.

The Wild move on from a player whose contract is expiring after this year. With the difficult cap situation the Wild are in they were unlikely to be able to bring back Addison. In this case, they get a future asset to potentially use to acquire another player.

The trade right now feels like a steal for the San Jose Sharks. If they can re-sign Addison and harness his offense they could have a major offensive threat on their hands. If not the value could even out over time depending on how the Wild use the pick they received.
