Kraken Forward Injures Avalanche Veteran and Pays The Price

Jordan Eberle faced consequences for a dangerous hit he delivered last year during the playoffs.

In the first round matchup between the Kraken and the Avs, Eberle had delivered a perilous hit on Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano, resulting in a fractured neck for Cogliano and his subsequent absence from the playoffs. Tonight, Eberle had to answer for his actions.

Here's what happened:

In less than two minutes into the game, Avalanche forward Logan O'Connor challenged Jordan Eberle to a fight. Eberle accepted the challenge, possibly in acknowledgment of his dangerous hit on Cogliano.

Neither player had a reputation as a fighter, leading to a somewhat underwhelming skirmish. Nonetheless, O'Connor managed to land a few solid punches. The officials swiftly intervened as Eberle fell to the ice with his jersey covering his head.
