Colby Barlow is set to spend another year with the Owen Sound Attack, but now the Jets top prospect is seemingly holding out for a trade.
The Winnipeg Jets dealt with a prospect headache all off-season long with Rutger McGroarty, and now another one of their top prospects reportedly wants a trade. Thankfully for the Jets, this one involves the OHL, as top prospect Colby Barlow is seemingly holding out for a trade, as he no longer wants to play with the Owen Sound Attack, the team he has spent the last three seasons with.
That report comes from Post Media journalist Greg Cowan, who reveals that Barlow informed the Attack's General Manager that he wants to be traded, and won't report to the team after being released back to juniors by the Winnipeg Jets. At 19-years of age, Barlow dominated the OHL a season ago, tallying 40 goals and 58 points in 50 games with the team, but now, he's looking at other options.
According to Cowan, the Oshawa Generals and Barrie Colts are leading the way to land Barlow, but up to five OHL teams are interested in landing the former first-round draft pick.
Cowan follows this up by revealing a trade should happen in a quick manner, with GM Dale DeGray getting plenty of interest since the trade request became official over the weekend. In what is expected to be his final junior season before he makes the jump to the NHL, Barlow is clearly targeting some major success, and with his talent as a sniper, if he finds the right fit, this could be a huge career move for someone the Jets reportedly have high hopes for.
