A huge 7-3 win last night over the defending Stanley Cup champions the Vegas Golden Knights has injected some confidence into the team, and it's clear many players are feeling it. Max Domi certainly is.

Maple Leafs Max Domi with a Very Bold Statement on His Team

Following the big win by the Maple Leafs, Domi was asked by reporters how he feels about the team's play as of late. Domi told them that, as far as he's concerned, Toronto can hang with any team in the league.

"Everyone was good tonight. We had contributions from everyone. When we have everyone going like that, we're a tough team to beat. We can play with anyone. Four lines going short and hard. And everyone's sticking to the game plan: keeping it simple, staying disciplined, not taking penalties. When we do that, we just come at teams in waves — and that's the Stanley Cup champions. I mean, they might not have had their best tonight, but I'm sure they'd say that we're a tough team to play against."

Max Domi's Bold Statement on the Maple Leafs is one Coaches Love to Hear

A bold statement, for sure but one coaches love to hear from their players as the season inches closer to the playoffs. The Maple Leafs were not all that long ago in a race for a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. However, the team now sits in third in the Atlantic Division with a good buffer between it and being knocked back down to wild card status. If they can continue with their recent play, overtaking the Florida Panthers and/or the Boston Bruins for a higher spot in the Atlantic is nowhere near out of the question.

Meanwhile, the Golden Knights are well on their way to making it to the postseason and a chance at going back-to-back. Last night, the team was missing captain Mark Stone, Jack Eichel, William Carrier, and Brett Howden, all key players for the team.
