Toronto has poached 2018 first-round pick Jay O'Brien from the Philadelphia Flyers.

O'Brien Signs With Toronto

It was just announced that the Toronto Marlies have inked 2018 19th overall pick, Jay O'Brien, to a one-year deal.

O'Brien never signed a deal with the Flyers and had his rights expire which allowed the Marlies to swoop in and snag him. The Flyers will receive a compensatory 2nd round pick from the NHL for not signing O'Brien.

He scored 8 goals and had 32 points in 39 NCAA games last year with Boston University. He will look to develop his game with Toronto's top-tier facilities and staff.
