On Twitter, Auston Matthews released a statement saying he is glad to remain a Leaf.

The deal is worth $13.25 million over 4 years making him the highest paid player in NHL history.
He will look to bounce back off his 2022-23 campaign where he scored only 40 goals and 85 points.
