A top pick from the 2020 draft may never play hockey again after a scary injury has knocked him away from the sport.

Amriov's Future Uncertain

In 2020, the Toronto Maple Leafs selected Rodion Amirov 15th overall. They selected him with the hope that he would be the perfect complimentary winger to the core four and were expecting him to make his NHL debut by now.

However, health-related issues, including a brain tumor, have sidelined Amirov and prevented him from playing the sport he loves.

What It Could Have Been

Amirov was once one of the brightest young prospects in hockey warranting his top 15 selection.

In his draft year, he played in 21 KHL games and looked to build off of it for the next couple of years.

Say Amirov was healthy, he is likely a top-six winger in the NHL right now but he may sadly never play again.

He is on loan to the KHL again next season and if he can become healthy, we could see him break out into the star he can be.
