The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a clear choice for their temporary goaltender while Andrei Vasilevskiy is unavailable.

Tampa Bay Picks Their Vasilevskiy Replacement

The Tampa Bay Lightning have picked Jonas Johansson as their starting goaltender during Andrei Vasilevskiy's injury which will take at around 2 months to health.
The #Lightning have given their starting goaltender job to Jonas Johansson (@joonasjohansson) over Matt Tomkins & Hugo Alnefelt in the absence of Andrei Vasilevskiy.

This decision carries some risk, mainly due to Johansson's limited experience.

Evaluating the Risk

At 28 years old, Jonas Johansson has played only 35 NHL games. His career statistics are not stellar, with a save percentage of .877 and a goals-against average of 3.32.
However, Johansson showed promise during the preseason, suggesting that he might perform well as a temporary replacement for Vasilevskiy. The Lightning will now see if Johansson is able to hold down the fort while they wait for Vasileskiy to heal.
