According to LeBrun, a contract extension between the Lightning and Stamkos is likely, but talks won't happen until the current season wraps up.

Pierre Lebrun believes the Tampa Bay Lightning and F Steven Stamkos WILL reach a contract agreement, but no discussions will occur until the season is complete.

Stamkos has been in top form this season, scoring 15 goals and 35 points in 32 games, ranking him third in team points behind Kucherov and Point.

The first overall pick in the 2008 draft, Stamkos has spent his entire career with the Lightning, playing 1035 games and scoring 530 goals. He's won the Rocket Richard Trophy twice and led the team to two Stanley Cups as captain. Exciting times are ahead for Stamkos and Lightning fans!
