Jimmy Snuggerud has been gaining steam as a star of the future for the St. Louis Blues, but now, that future will have to wait another year.

On Tuesday however, Blues GM Doug Armstrong made an official announcement that the 2022 first-round pick would be returning to the University of Minnesota for his third season as a Golden Gopher.
"After talking to Jimmy and his family the past couple days, the organization fully supports his decision to commit to another season at the University of Minnesota. We look forward to watching his continued development towards becoming a solid contributor for the St. Louis Blues in the future by playing a lead role for the Golden Gophers against top college competition next year." - Doug Armstrong
Snuggerud was picked No. 23 overall by the Blues two seasons ago, but is still just 19-years of age, and with a major future ahead of him, he made this decision in the best interest of his development. That development has already shown he can be a major threat to score the puck, with 42 goals and 84 points in 79 games played over two seasons at Minnesota.
He is still expected to be a major star one day for the Blues, with the young core of Robert Thomas, Jake Neighbours and others expected to grow in the future, but for now, he's back to Minnesota in what should be another thrilling campaign with the Golden Gophers.
