The Edmonton Oilers are set to face off against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. Today though, forwards Evander Kane and Adam Henrique missed practice, making their status for game one against Vancouver a bit questionable.
The Canucks are considered to be underdogs in the series as the Oilers have the better roster on paper. Furthermore, the Oilers were one of the best teams in the league after their slow start. However, they were not quite able to catch the Canucks in the Pacific Division, so the series will start in Vancouver.
While the Oilers have incredible talent up front by the way of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, it is their forward depth that makes the team even scarier in the playoffs. The team added Adam Henrique from the Ducks at the trade deadline, making their center depth truly special. However, Henrique as well as Evander Kane appear to be battling injuries as they did not practice today.
The Oilers are in familiar territory, having come off a first-round win against the LA Kings. This is the third year in a row the two teams have faced each other in the first round, with the Oilers taking all three contests.
The Canucks have a tough task ahead of them regardless of Kane and Henrique's status going into game one. They are dealing with injuries themselves, with number one netminder Thatcher Demko likely out for the entire series. Be sure to tune in on Wednesday night to see how the opening game unfolds.
