According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Mattias Janmark is eager to stay with the Edmonton Oilers and is willing to take a discount to make it happen.

Meanwhile, Vincent Desharnais might be testing the waters of free agency.
Janmark, made a name for himself with the Dallas Stars, and had settled into a reliable fourth-liner role and penalty killer on Edmonton. Though he could command up to $1.75 million in free agency, Seravalli reports that Janmark is open to a more team-friendly deal with longer-term security.
Couple notes regarding a couple EDM UFAs (Per Seravalli):

- Janmark is likely willing to take a paycut to remain with the team, as long as there is more term on the deal.

- Desharnais likely won't take a team-friendly deal to stay with the team, and could hit the open market.
After seven consecutive one-year contracts, Janmark is seeking stability. Earning just $1 million this season, he could potentially re-sign for a three-year deal slightly above that number. At 31 years old and with 557 NHL games under his belt, Janmark has tallied 80 goals and 195 points.

First member of the Oilers with multiple shorthanded goals in a single postseason since Todd Marchant in 1997
Meanwhile, Vincent Desharnais is looking to capitalize on his strong performance this season and isn't interested in a team-friendly deal.
Drafted in the seventh round and making his NHL debut at 26, Desharnais is aiming for a significant payday to secure his place in the league.
Players I think will get paid very well this offseason:

Nikita Zadorov : 6 x 5,500,000
Alexandre Carrier : 4 x 4,000,000
Dakota Joshua : 5 x 3,750,000
Jalen Chatfield : 4 x 3,500,000
William Carrier : 4 x 3,250,000
Jordan Martinook : 3 x 2,750,000
Vincent Desharnais : 6 x 1.75M
The Oilers are currently focused on Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Friday at Rogers Place and staving off elimination.
Yet, free agency season is just around the corner. The team's front office is likely already planning their offseason moves to either retain key players or make the necessary improvements for another deep playoff run next season.
