The Edmonton Oilers made the decision to cancel all their on-ice sessions at their development camp, according to the renowned reporter Jason Gregor.

In breaking news, Gregor revealed in a post on X that the Oilers didn't feel their prospects needed to spend time on the ice.
Instead, they decided to have the whole development camp off the ice this year.
"This year it will be just off the ice. No on-ice sessions. Will be more learning."
"Didn't feel the need to have on ice. Kids are on ice all the time now. Wise decision in my eyes. Will be more educational about life skills, cooking, nutrition, training, money management."
This is an unusual decision. Development camps are a great opportunity to let players create relationships and show their competitiveness on the ice.
However, the educational aspect is also crucial for any young players. These are things that they'll keep with them whether they make it to the NHL or not. By doing this, the Oilers send a message that if you want to be the best hockey player on the ice, you have to live a good, balanced, and healthy life outside the arena.
