Connor McDavid again showed why he's the best player on the planet.
The Edmonton Oilers superstar set a new personal record by dishing out six assists as the Oilers dominated the Detroit Red Wings 8-4 on Tuesday at Rogers Place. McDavid also picked up his 600th career assist, making him the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to hit the milestone. McDavid's performance was nothing short of legendary.

Connor McDavid's Historic Night:

McDavid wasn't the only star of the night, though. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tallied two goals, and Leon Draisaitl, Cody Ceci, Evan Bouchard, Dylan Holloway, Zach Hyman, and Evander Kane also got in on the scoring action for the Oilers. They broke open a 3-3 tie with a five-goal third period.

The Oilers are on fire at home, winning their eighth straight game and just one win shy of tying their franchise record. They're also boasting an impressive 26-5-0 record in their last 31 games.

Yet the Red Wings put up a fight, with players like Alex DeBrincat, Joe Veleno, Patrick Kane, and David Perron finding the back of the net. They might have lost, but they're still holding strong with a 10-3-2 record since January 1st.

The game had its fair share of highlights, like Draisaitl's slick goal in the opening period and Ceci breaking his scoring drought with a clutch goal.

The third period was where things heated up. McDavid took over, notching another assist and setting up Nugent-Hopkins for his second-game goal, sending Rogers Place into a frenzy.
