I don't think anyone wanted to see the status quo from the new head coach in Edmonton. And, it looks like he's ready to make some changes.

Edmonton New Coach Wastes No Time in Putting his Stamp on the Lineup

Kris Knoblauch is running his first practice with the Edmonton Oilers today after Jay Woodcroft was fired over the weekend. His first decision was to break up Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Oilers won their last game with 97 and 29 together. Knoblauch separates them at morning skate. Lots of debate what the formula should be, I like that he's not going with status quo.

Knoblauch has McDavid centering a line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Sam Gagne, with Draisaitl in the middle on the second line with Evander Kane and Zach Hyman.
