Speculation was running wild last night after the Edmonton Oilers suffered an embarrassing loss to the San Jose Sharks. Many believed that would be the final straw in getting coach Jay Woodcroft fired from his position. We now have an update.

According to TSN's Ryan Rishaug, if Woodcroft is getting fired, it won't be happening today.
"My sense is there won't be any movement on the coaching front today with the Oilers."
While some may argue that the issue isn't coaching, something has to give in Edmonton and it's usually the coach that takes the fall.

The Oilers don't play again until Saturday night, so there is still some time to have someone new behind the bench before that game starts. However, nothing appears to be imminent at this moment. Oilers GM Ken Holland will need to do something soon, or it will be him getting shown the door.
