Erne Placed on Waivers To Make Room For New Perry Contract

It was announced today that Corey Perry has officially signed his deal with the Edmonton Oilers, a 1-year contract worth league minimum with several performance bonuses attached. Perry was seen on the ice this morning with the Oilers, getting his first practice in with the team before potentially playing as early as this week.

However, this means that the Oilers are going to have to reconfigure their roster in order to accommodate Perry's contract.

As a result, Adam Erne has been placed on waivers today by the Oilers after missing practice this morning with the team.

Adam Erne isn't on the ice for Oilers practice. The Oilers need to clear a contract to fit in Corey Perry. Today's waivers are announced at noon MT.

The Oilers make an official announcement

Erne has just 1 goal and 1 assist in the 23 games he has played in for the Oilers. He is on a League minimum deal for 1 year with the team.

We will see if he will be claimed from the Oilers, or if he will be sent down to the Bakersfield Condors.
