The Calgary Flames have dealt with their fair share of struggles in recent times, and now, a former first-round pick has officially been demoted.

Jakob Pelletier sent back to the AHL

While the Flames lack elite talent on their roster, one thing they have no shortage of is wingers, with former first-round pick Jakob Pelletier being a healthy scratch in recent times.
Now, with the team not set to play until Saturday, he has officially been sent back to the AHL's Calgary Wranglers, but is likely to return to the roster when they hit the road for an upcoming trip.
Forward Jakob Pelletier has been assigned to the @AHLWranglers.
The former first-round pick is coming off of a tough injury over the summer, and was looking to settle himself into the lineup, but has tallied just 1 goal and 3 assists since his return.
With the likes of Matt Coronato, Connor Zary and Martin Pospisil all finding roles on the wing at the NHL level, Pelletier will need to step his game up to find a place on this current roster, because at the moment, he may continue to be healthy scratched. Still, he is 23-years of age and has plenty of hockey left in him, so the Flames will be hoping that with patience and development he can become the star that they were hoping for.
