The Coyotes appear to wisely be stacking this team full of young talent ready to lead them forward for years to come, and after solid contributions in his first full season, that included a full two-year contract for forward Jack McBain.
On the surface, a two-year, $1.6M AAV deal makes sense for both sides after he put together 12 goals and 26 points last year, but on closer inspection, this deal is slightly strange.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the deal is actually going to pay McBain $1,599,999.99 per year, exactly one penny short of $1.6M, and at this point, absolutely nobody knows why.
It's an odd deal, but still a solid pay day for a 23-year old still looking to make his mark in the NHL, it's a great opportunity, but now we just need to know why Arizona are doing it the way they are doing it.
