Anaheim Ducks Star May Be Facing Suspension After Dirty Post-Whistle Hit

In the third period of a preseason game, Anaheim Ducks star Alex Killorn laid a massive hit on Sharks young forward Filip Zadina.

The hit came late as the play was ending. The game was also almost over with less than 2 minutes left. It was a needless hit by a veteran player who knows better.

Rumors have flown around about possible discipline for Killorn due to the violence of the hit. This would be devastating to a young Ducks team without a lot of veteran leadership.

Alex Killorn signed a 4-year deal in Anaheim worth $6,250,000 this offseason. It will be his first taste of NHL action outside of Tampa Bay where he had spent his entire career. Killorn will bring much-needed veteran leadership to a young Ducks group.

The two-time Stanley Cup champion put up 64 points in 82 games with Tampa Bay last season. At 34 years old he is likely to regress heavily by the end of his contract. For now, though he should be a key contributor on a Ducks team looking to make massive improvements.
