The Perfect Player For The Jets Top Six Emerges

The Winnipeg Jets have consistently been one of the best teams in the NHL this season, especially over the last few months. One area where the team could improve though is down the middle and now a perfect trade target has seemingly emerged for the team.

Winnipeg Jets Targeting Flames Center At Trade Deadline

The Calgary Flames have already indicated that they will be sellers at the trade deadline and they have a number of players who could be on the move. Among them is centerman Elias Lindholm, who will likely garner a lot of interest from around the league. Frank Serravalli believes that Lindholm would be a perfect fit for the team.

"Could you imagine if you were the Jets and you could go Scheifele one, Lindholm two, Adam Lowry three? I mean, that would pretty properly position Winnipeg to, to become that Stanley Cup favorite status."

The Jets have never really been given credit for being a true contender despite making the playoffs on a relatively consistent basis in recent years. This could be due to the fact that the team has never had the most impressive roster on paper. Adding a center like Lindholm could go a long way to doing just that given the other additions the team made in the offseason.

Lindholm Lowering Trade Value With Down Season

Lindholm has not had the best season this year with the Flames. In fact, he's on pace for the worst of his career. However, a lot of this can possibly be explained by the fact that the Flames as a whole are under performing. It seems like they simply have no chemistry, nor a desire to play their best hockey. This will likely lower Lindholm's value, but we could see a big bounce back from him should he end the season with a new team.

Elias Lindholm has had a disappointing season

He's on pace for 14 goals and 53 points. The worst scoring rate during his time in Calgary

He is last among regular Flames forwards in xGF%, SCF% and HDCF%

His 5v5 Numbers:

CF%: 46:32
GF% 44.26
xGF% 43.45
SCF 44.08
HDCF 44.44

All of this being said, the Jets will have competition in the trade market for Lindholm. The center has already been linked to the Vancouver Canucks, a team Calgary has already made one trade with this season.

It will be a tough job for Kevin Cheveldayoff come the trade deadline. Stay tuned to see what the Jets do.
