San Jose is entering potentially a new re-building era for the club, and now it has been confirmed they are willing to part ways with their Captain.

San Jose GM Confirms he is Willing to Trade Couture and Hertl

San Jose is coming off of another disappointing season last year, finishing in the bottom five of the league. A new rebuilding era is coming for San Jose, one that has already seen some huge offloading of assets like Erik Karlsson this offseason. Now, San Jose GM Mike Grier has confirmed that he is willing to get rid of his Captain Logan Couture and another star forward in Tomas Hertl.
"I check in with (Hertl and Couture) a lot, and if there ever were to come a time when they felt like they needed or wanted to go somewhere else, it's definitely something I would listen to, and if it made sense for us, I would explore it," - Mike Grier

Logan Couture and Tomas Hertl Will Have a Say in When They Want to Be Traded

Both Couture and Hertl are in long-term contracts with the Sharks. Couture is tied up with the club until the 2026-27 season, while Hertl is only entering the second year of his eight-year extension. Grier confirmed that they were still all in with the Sharks and committed to winning in San Jose.
"They're all in," Grier said, "They enjoy working with (head coach David Quinn) and the coaching staff. They're excited by some of the young players."

Both Hertl and Couture have tough contracts to move without their consent, as Hertl's extension contains a no-move clause through 2025, while Couture has a huge 29-team no-trade clause.
