The hockey world is mourning the loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has offered a touching tribute.

This morning, it was announced Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny and his brother Gaudreau's passing in a tragic accident as they were hit by a drunk driver while riding their bicycles the night before their sister's wedding.
Bettman's statement captured the immense loss felt across the league:
The National Hockey League family is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic passing of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew. Johnny, known for his electrifying play and the nickname Johnny Hockey,' was much more than just a talented forward. He was a loving father, devoted husband, cherished son, brother, and teammate who touched everyone he met.
Our thoughts are with his wife Meredith, their children Noa and Johnny, his parents Guy and Jane, and his sisters Kristen and Katie. We grieve with his teammates, the Blue Jackets and Flames organizations, his many friends in the hockey world, and all the fans who cherished his contributions on and off the ice.»
Our hearts go out to Johnny and Matthew's families during this difficult time. The hockey world will always remember them.
