Things got extra feisty between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks in game three of their Stanley Cup Playoffs series. Carson Soucy of Vancouver cross-checked Connor McDavid of Edmonton in the face resulting in suspension.

Following a brutal cross-check to the face of Connor McDavid during Game 3, Carson Soucy faced a phone hearing with the Department of Player Safety.
While the hit McDavid took was undeniably ugly, he reported feeling fine and had few complaints about the incident.
At the time of McDavid's comments, he refrained from addressing the specific event, awaiting the department's decision.
Carson Soucy ultimately received a one-game suspension, while Nikita Zadorov was fined the maximum $5,000 for his involvement.
Despite being the instigator of the incident, Connor McDavid faced no disciplinary action. Furthermore, Zach Hyman's two-handed cross-check, aimed at Zadorov's head, went unpunished.
The officiating throughout the playoffs has raised questions, and the NHL's Player Safety Department appears to be part of the issue. With Soucy sidelined for Game 4, Noah Juulsen is expected to step into his role.
Everybody wants to talk about the slash before Soucy cross-checks the Oilers captain in the face, but nobody wants to talk about Zadorov cross-checking McDavid into near decapitation.
If the Oilers had a true tough guy to protect McDavid, this would've been messier than everyone saw.
