Hurricanes face major setback after losing veteran player for season

The Carolina Hurricanes have been making quick work at taking down the New York Islanders in their first-round series of the playoffs. However, this team is now facing a major setback after they lost veteran right-winger Jesper Fast for the remainder of the season.

The Carolina Hurricanes have led the New York Islanders in their series 3-0, getting closer to a first-round sweep. Unfortunately, the team will have to kick it into high gear after learning that Jesper Fast will be out for the season, as head coach Rod Brind'Amour reported.

"During Carolina's pre-game show on Bally's, head coach Rod Brind'Amour indicated Jesper Fast appears to be out for the season.

He was more optimistic about the possibility of Brett Pesce returning."

In Brind'Amour's full response on Jesper Fast's and Brett Pesce's status, he did not seem very hopeful. While expressing that Fast is likely out for the rest of the playoffs, he did allude to Brett Pesce's potential return.

"Bad news, really, on both fronts, unfortunately. You know, this time of year, that's not what you want to hear you need your guys in there, but they won't be available. with Quickie, really for the whole playoffs, no matter how far we go so that one's really, you know, tough. Tough for him, he's put in all that work and same with Patrick. Right now we don't really know the extent, but hopeful maybe at some point he could get back, but he's certainly not going to help us here tonight."

The Carolina Hurricanes have just taken the third game in their first-round playoff series against the New York Islanders. Though they are proving tough to beat now, the playoffs will only get harder. Hopefully, they can learn to adapt their game with another player out for the season.
