REPORT: Maple Leafs Forward Sidelined With New Mysterious Injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs training camp and preseason are underway. Most of the players are in attendance and thriving. One player however has been missing and it has caused a lot of speculation.

Maple Leafs Forward Mysteriously Missing

No word yet on Jarnkrok. Hasn't played in either pre-season game and not in today's groups. #Leafs

As has been noted. Calle Jarnkrok isn't listed here and he didn't play in either of the team's first two pre-season games.

The speculation has mounted more and more as the days have gone on. Today Toronto Maple Leafs Head Coach Sheldon Keefe was able to clear up the story. He confirmed the immediate future for Jarnkrok in Toronto.

Maple Leafs Forward Sidelined With Injury

During a media availability today Sheldon Keefe finally was able to shed some light on the Calle Jarnkrok situation. The Maple Leafs forward is reportedly dealing with an injury and is day-to-day.

Sheldon Keefe says Calle Jarnkrok is dealing with something that came up in practice the other day and is day-to-day.

Says Easton Cowan will play tomorrow against Buffalo.

This announcement answers some questions but leaves more unanswered. Jarnkrok is injured but the exact injury or timetable for return isn't known. Day-to-day is a very ambiguous term. It does however give another opportunity for 2023 first-round pick Easton Cowan to get a shot in the lineup.

Jarnkrok is coming off a successful season as a depth piece for the Maple Leafs. With the additions made to the forward core in Toronto Jarnkrok will likely still be stuck in a bottom-six role. He could be a very important player for the Maple Leafs nonetheless if he can get back on the ice.
