The Oilers have been continuously involved in trade rumors all season thanks to their terrible goaltending performances so far this season. However, the team may have taken too long to make a move as they now may not be the only Alberta based NHL team to be in the market for a goaltender.

Markstrom Leaves Practice Early With Apparent Hand Injury

Multiple NHL reporters noted this morning that Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom left practice early with an apparent injury to his right hand.
NHL insider Kevin Weekes hinted that the team may call up goaltender Dustin Wolf from the AHL. Wolf has consistently been one of, if not the best goaltender in the league in the last couple of seasons.

Flames Given Opportunity To Spoil Oilers Plans?

Another option for the Flames would be to make a trade. They could potentially play spoiler to their rival Oilers as their Northern neighbors have reportedly been heavily involved in the goalie market all season. Wolf will likely get the call up regardless as the Flames play tomorrow night and it is very unlikely that they could get a trade in order before then even if that is what the team decides to do.
It seems like the injury might be rather serious given the way Flames personnel, including Markstrom himself, reacted to the play. A such, a major move may not be as unlikely as some may believe. Upsetting the Oilers plans would simply be an added bonus.
