Last night the Florida Panthers took on the Anaheim Ducks and were able to squeeze out a 2-1 victory. However, the win came at a huge cost, as Florida Captain Alexander Barkov was injured on a dirty hit from Jackson Lacombe.
Knee-on-knee collisions are some of the scariest in the NHL, as they happen quickly and can seriously injure a player's leg. While the game happens quickly, it's commonly understood to be a dirty play when a player makes no effort to get out of the way of the knee-on-knee.
The Panthers will miss Barkov. Through 16 games this year, he has tallied 17 points. What is more impressive, though, is his +14 rating. Panthers are hopeful that Barkov will make a speedy recovery.
