Major promotion to Winnipeg Jets 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow

The Moose are on a heater, grabbing all four points in their weekend faceoff with the Chicago Wolves, who were desperately trying to catch up. Even though the Wolves managed to snatch two points in extra-time losses, the Moose are feeling good. After taking a few days off to recharge, they're back on the ice, getting ready to face off against the Wild, the next team nipping at their heels in the standings. It will be a thrilling two-game series to wrap up their home games for the regular season.

Appearing at practice today was Colby Barlow, the 2023 1st rounder (18th overall) recently promoted to the Manitoba club by the Jets. The excitement surrounding his debut with the team is palpable.




The Moose have their sights set on locking in that 4th playoff spot in the Central, trailing the Stars by just five points with a game in hand. The pressure is on as they head into two crucial Texas games against the Stars, determining who gets the home-ice advantage for the play-in series.
Barlow is no stranger to success, boasting an impressive track record with the Owen Sound Attack in the OHL. The 19-year-old had 58 points with 40 goals and 18 assists in just 50 games. As the team captain, he also contributed three points in four postseason matchups before the Attack were swept by the Saginaw Spirit in the first round of the playoffs. He's recorded 184 points (116 goals, 68 assists) in his 168-game OHL career.


Hailing from Orillia, Ontario, Barlow's was named to the OHL First All-Star Team in the 2022-23 season and received both the OHL and CHL Scholastic Player of the Year awards. In his rookie year, he made a splash by earning a spot on the OHL First All-Rookie Team in 2021-22.

On the international stage, Barlow helped Team Canada secure gold at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup and bronze at the U18 World Championship, showcasing his skills against the best young players in the world.

With the coaching staff keeping a close watch on him, there's a chance we might see him hit the ice in the upcoming showdown with the Wild. The Moose are pumped up and ready to make a playoff push, and with Barlow in the mix, the sky is the limit for them.
