In the 5th round of the 2023 draft, the Winnipeg Jets took goaltender Thomas Milic. At the time of his selection, Milic was a double over-ager which means he was passed on in two separate drafts.
Milic is one of the most stable goaltenders and has quite the award cabinet having two gold medals representing Canada, being WHL playoff MVP, CHL first-team all-star, and a WHL goaltender of the year.
Manitoba is the Jets' AHL affiliate but it is a bit confusing as to why it was not the Jets who signed Milic. It is now up to Milic to prove himself as the Jets' future in net. If he impresses with the Moose this year, he could earn his first NHL contract next year.
