The Winnipeg Jets have made some solid moves this summer, and while their veteran core remains full of talent, they'll be relying on some young names to step up in a big way in 2023-24.

An unfortunate injury

One of those players expected to compete for a key spot on the blue line is former first-round pick Ville Heinola, but unfortunately, on the eve of the season, he's been taken off the ice after a scary incident.
According to the Jets social media, Heinola won't return to this game after what's being described as a lower body injury, and now, they'll be crossing their fingers that he can return for the season opener in Calgary.
The 22-year old played in 10 games a season ago, notching just one assist in 13 MPG of ice time, but now, the pressure is on for him to step into a key role in 2023-24, so hopefully this isn't an injury that keeps him out a long time.
