Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ondřej Kase, now a free agent, is considering an NHL return, according to a report from Chris Johnston.
Kase's departure from the NHL
After missing the entire 2022-23 season due to a brain injury and a history of concussions, Kase left the NHL to continue his career in Czechia. This season, he played 48 games for Litvinov HC, scoring 54 points alongside his brother David.
In an interview with The Athletic's Chris Johnston, Kaše discussed his health and the past season:
"I wasn't sure how healthy I am and all season was actually great. I felt unbelievable. All injuries were done. I played with my brother. Even as kids, we wanted to always play together and this was our chance. It was a great season. We lost in the semifinals and I think for the team it was pretty good."
Currently competing in the Men's World Championship in Czechia, Kaše shared his thoughts on returning to the NHL:
"It's still in my head, for sure. I'm not sure after the championship what the situation will be. So we will see with my agent."
Performance in the World Championship
As of now, Kaše has tallied five points in six games, ranking 36th among scorers in the Men's World Championship.
Kaše's impact with the Maple Leafs
During his 2021-22 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kaše scored 14 goals and added 13 assists in 50 games.
Ondřej Kaše's potential return to the NHL is eagerly anticipated, as fans and analysts watch his performance and await further developments.
