The plan is to replace him with the imposing 6'7" defenseman and Toronto native, Jamie Oleksiak, who is locked in at $4.6 million annually for the next three seasons.



As part of the deal, the Maple Leafs would also regain their third-round pick that they had traded away in the Mark Giordano deal. This would provide them with the flexibility to potentially use that pick in whichever fashion they choose, whether that is in another trade, picking with it, or even using it in an offer sheet.
