Sad news coming today, as former Maple Leafs goaltender Marv Edwards has sadly passed away at the age of 87. The retired goaltender had quite the professional hockey career, and should be celebrated for his commitment to the game.

Remembering Marv Edwards

The Edwards spent time in the WHL, AHL, IHL, OSAHL, and the EHL, before making his first appearance in the NHL. He started his NHL career with a single game for Pittsburgh before spending a full season with Toronto, and another two with the now-defunct California Golden Seals.

Edwards won gold at the World Championship of Hockey in 1959 with Team Canada and won four best goalie awards during his time in the EHL and WHL. After the conclusion of his career, he tried out his hand at coaching and went on to coach in the CHL for two years and the OHL for four years.

The "Marvelous Marv" will always be remembered for his accomplishments in the hockey world. Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and teammates at this time.

Rest in Peace, Marv.
